Phase one: Take care of the windows you need most
Privacy and sleep usually come first. Many homeowners start with room-darkening shades in the primary bedroom so they can settle in comfortably. If your family uses a theater or media room, controlling light there may also be a priority. Bathrooms, street-facing rooms, and any windows visible to neighbors are other good candidates for the first phase.
Your priorities may be different. During a consultation, we’ll walk through the home with you and identify the windows that affect your daily life most.
Invest where you will enjoy it every day
Phasing a project doesn’t mean choosing the least expensive treatment for every room. If you’ve fallen in love with woven shades in the family room, Roman shades in the dining room, or shutters across the front of the house, we can make those the focus of an early phase.
Then we can look at simpler, more budget-friendly blinds or shades for secondary bedrooms, a finished basement, or other spaces where function matters more than a decorative statement. Choosing different products for different rooms can give you the look you want in your main living areas while keeping the overall plan within reach.
Add drapery when you’re ready
Blinds or shades can provide privacy and light control right away. Later, custom drapery panels can add softness, color, and a more finished look to the living room, dining room, or bedroom. If drapery is part of your long-term vision, tell us at the beginning. We can consider how the first treatment will work with future panels, including room for the hardware and the look you want when both are installed.
Be selective with motorization
Motorization can be especially useful where a shade is opened and closed often or is difficult to reach. If motorizing every window isn’t in the budget, consider it first for the primary bedroom, the window over the kitchen sink, a window above a bathtub, or high windows that are awkward to operate by hand. Cordless operation may be a practical choice for the remaining windows.
